people across three sessions: secondary and high school students, parents and teachers. Follow-up workshops with six civil society organizations carried the campaign forward.

Context

Students were learning civics and citizenship, partly in English, as abstract content far from their own city.

Challenge

Help teenagers connect children's rights law to real situations in Jalisco, and give them a reason to use English beyond the textbook.

What I did
1Designed a project worth 20% of the grade, built around Mexico's General Law on the Rights of Children and Adolescents.
2Wrote a 10-step student guide: pick a right, translate its chapter, find a group of children who can't exercise it, research it with INEGI data and news, and take a position.
3Students turned their research into a newspaper, made in pairs.
4Students wrote a letter inviting TECHO, Ortopedia Urbana, Wikipolítica and Jóvenes Indígenas Urbanos, and collected signatures to request the school's facilities for a forum.
5I connected them with the organizations. The forum was organized by students, for students.
